How to install a wall-hung ceramic basin

How to install a wall-hung ceramic basin
If you want to make a small bathroom fell roomier, you can replace a vanity with a wall-hung basin. As the floor space opens up, the room becomes brighter and easier to clean. In this article, we’ll show you how to install a stylish wall-hung bathroom basin.

Step 1 Preparing
You'll need to decide whereabouts your basin should be positioned and at what height: if you're using an existing water supply this will help to dictate the position of your new basin. Between 800-850mm is generally accepted as a comfortable height for a bathroom basin. If you are particularly tall, though, you may like to install your basin a little higher. Then Remove drywall in that area and install 2-by-6 or 2-by-8 blocking between wall studs.

Step 2 Measuring up and Position the mounting
You should begin by measuring from the top edge of the basin to the centre point between the two fixing holes, then measure the distance in between the fixing holes. Drill pilot holes for lag screws or other fasteners supplied by the manufacturer; if the wall is tile, use a masonry bit. Having decided whereabouts on your wall you'd like the top edge of your basin to be, stick a strip of masking tape on the wall. Mark the intended height of the top edge of the basin on your masking tape with a pencil.

Step 3 Install the faucet and drain
It is much easier to attach the faucet and drain pop up assembly before the basin is hung on the wall. Follow the manufacturer's directions to install the faucet and drain assembly. Do not fully tighten slip-joint drain connections at this time.

Step 4 Hang the basin on the wall
Insert the wall anchors into your fixing holes and tighten them using a spanner. Don't forget that once your basin is in place it will be fixed onto the wall anchors with a flanged collar sleeve, washer and nut: make sure you leave enough of the wall anchor thread protruding from the wall for this to be possible.
Once the wall anchors are in place, use a carpenter's level to check that the basin is level. Then carefully tighten nuts until the basin is secured to wall. Do not over tighten the nuts.
Then remove the masking tape from your wall. Then, set the basin onto the wall anchors and fit the flanged collar sleeve, washer and nut, in this order, to each wall anchor. Level up the basin (using a spirit level) and tighten the nuts securely.

Step 5 Connect the faucet and drain
Connect and tighten the trap to the drain. Then connect the hot and cold water supplies to the faucet.
